Science 10 Jones
This course is divided into four main areas: Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Earth Science. This course requires your regular attendance, a positive attitude and effort. Success comes form asking questions, not being afraid to be wrong, as no-one learns anything if they do it right the first time, and staying on top of things.

Sustaining Earth’s Ecosystems (Biology) Topics: Biomes, Ecosystems, Energy flow and nutrients cycles, Changes in the ecosystem
Chemical Reactions & Radioactivity (Chemistry) Topics: Atomic Theory, Classification of Compounds, Predicting Chemical Reactions, Radioactivity
Motion (Physics) Topics: Velocity, acceleration
Earth Science Topics: Climate Change, Plate Tectonics

Materials 3 ring binder/dividers, Pencils/pens/eraser, Calculator MUST BE SCIENTIFIC NOT GRAPHING, Lined paper, graphing paper, pencil crayons
Mark Breakdown
Term Mark: 80%
Assignments/Labs/Projects 50% Tests 50%
Provincial Exam: 20% of Final course grade
If your standing is less than 60% on the first report card, you are in danger of not passing the course. This will require a plan for you to improve. For the final report card, a mark less than 50% will result in the grade of an “F”
My website will have notes and review materials. Its a great place to find out what you missed if you are away. You are responsible for missed assignments and test missed, due to excused absences. You will write any missed tests or quizzes right away. Tuesday after school is a scheduled test taking time for this purpose, hosted by an administrator in room 205. We will decide on a time together, but it is your responsibility to see me.
