Life's Script
Gender roles and stereotypes are everywhere. They have created spoken and unspoken rules about what is acceptable in society. These roles are defined from a very young age and are so prevalent in society that you find them in the color of clothing in the store, the toys you are supposed to play with, the cartoons you watch, the movies you see, the commercials you are bombarded with, the video games you play, right down to the books you read.
This phenomena is having such a huge affect on how we live that it might be time to look more careful at what your script says and how much you are buying into it. The following video is excepts from the Nostalgia chick and the Nostalgia critic. They both analyse film and media from there own bias, but pay particular attention to mainstream bias. Their full body of works are housed on "that guy with the glasses" it is designed for mature audiences. I have edited to keep content but make it as school appropriate as possible.
