Directions: Students will be able to create a detailed google slides presentation (or other presentation with permission) about a famous photographer of their own choosing and present it to the class/peers within a five minute time frame. This allows for every student to be an expert on one artist in addition to learning about other artists from their peers. Students will utilize their information and imagery research skills, writing, and critical thinking skills. In addition, this lesson is differentiated for students who enjoy using technology, learning about art history, and applying their artistic skills in their school work. Tasks: 1. Choose an artist that you will do your research project on from the list here: Famous artists past and present: see the links below. Artist must be school appropriate! 2.Notify the teacher which artist you would like to research (have a backup ready just in case another student has asked for the same artist.) 3.Research and find information about your chosen artist. *Record websites for your bibliography 4. Create a google slides presentation using these guidelines: Full name of individual Date and place of birth & indicate years of life (and if still living) How influenced-by others in field of art How influenced-by circumstances in life Awards, fellowships, grants, etc. (explain nature of award) Typical subject matter of art made by this artist What this artist is trying/ tried to communicate Typical style of work Geographic places this artist worked Significant contribution(s) to the art world What they themselves said/say about their work (quotes OK) What others have said about the work Presentation Requirements: Select a layout, design, background, font, and animation for your presentation. Every slide should have relevant information and/or an image that students write about in the slide or verbally explain. Information and imagery should be presented chronologically if possible. The final presentation should be 15-25 slides. Final presentations will be saved in G drive You will be presenting your Artist's Profile to the class/peers. Presentation should last 5 minutes. Make sure you practice prior to presentation day. Crediting Your Sources: Everything must be sited! Create an informal bibliography slide at the conclusion of your presentation listing where you obtained your information.
